About

Charlie Beestone.

Nutritionist, writer, and reluctant contrarian about the wellness industry.

Charlie Beestone

I've spent a decade as a nutritionist (MSc), mostly watching the same scene replay. Someone walks in, exhausted, apologetic, certain they "just need to be more consistent." They have read every book. They have tried every app. They are not the problem.

The problem is that food sits at the end of a long chain of pressures: workload, environment, industry incentives, bad advice. Almost no one is willing to name them. This site, and the publication that sits behind it, is the place I name them.

My background is in performance nutrition, with everyone from Olympians and world champions to academy athletes and recreational competitors, alongside organisations across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The work is the same shape in both worlds: the people who care most are the most at risk of breaking, and the early warning signs are in the kitchen before they ever land on an HR dashboard.

I write a weekly publication, Food is the Symptom, for people who suspect the problem isn't them. I speak to teams who are tired of being sold transformations. And I work with a small number of organisations and individuals when the fit is right.
